HOWTOs:Email Client Setup

Outlook Express 6 Windows XP

  1. Select Tools -> Accounts
    • If you have already gone through the Wizard and have the basic account information entered or have an existing sus4.net account that you are changing, please skip to step number 3.
  2. For a new account, use Add -> Mail and answer the questions:
    • Your Name (ex. John Doe)
    • The email address given to you by Sus4
    • Incoming mail server is a POP 3
    • Incoming mail server: mail.sus4.net
    • Outgoing mail server: mail.sus4.net
    • POP account name: your email address (ex. john@doeco.com)
    • Password
    • Leave unchecked: Log on using Secure Password Authentication
    • For mail account name, use something that is familiar to you, my preference is your email address
    • At the Accounts window, select your mail account and click Properties.
  3. Click on the Servers tab.
  4. Make sure that both Incoming and Outoging servers read: mail.sus4.net.
  5. Check My server requires authentication, then click Settings.
  6. Make sure that the Outgoing Mail Server Settings are set to: Use same settings as my Incoming mail server and click OK.
  7. Click on the Advanced tab.
  8. Under Server Port Numbers, click both boxes next to This server requires a secure connection (SSL)
  9. Change the Outgoing mail (SMTP): to 465
  10. Change the Incoming mail (POP3): to 995
  11. Finally, click Apply to save your settings.
